Four Seasons

Greetings Citizens,

Despite the majority of Australia being a massive desert, Melbourne still finds time to be rather inconsistent with its weather. Anyway, I don't want to talk about this comic anymore. On a more serious note, I'm currently trying to eat a mandarin (the fruit, not the dialect). I bought it today from Safeway. It's all dried up and horrible. I'm going to eat it anyway, and then take the peel back and ask for a refund. If this is my biggest problem on a Sunday night, I'm doing ok.

Work tomorrow - time to switch on the left side of the brain again.

Drought and other important questions which need to be addressed

Hello!

Today is Sunday, the last few hours of my holiday - it's been a very productive week - I've done a few comics and a few oil paintings and sketches too.

I'm trying keep the Melbourne theme in as many comics as I can. For those of you who don't know, for as long as I've lived here, Melbourne has had some pretty tight water restrictions. Rain dance people!

I had a stray sketch of Baz in my Moleskine delivering today's punchline - The way I often work is that I write the punchline, and work backwards from there. I was inspired to develop this idea after having had a conversation a couple of days ago around this serious topic faced by many retailphiles (real word that. It's... it's Greek. Or something).

Oh, and I thought I would let Nuck join in on the good times for the first time ever!

Stay awesome!

Eureka!

I'm taking this week off work, just for a break and a catch up on sleep and art.
I've been doing a lot of oil painting - I'm going to have to get them up online some time.

This is the first comic I've done on my new MacPro Beast with its superfluously humongous screen. Wuff!

For today's comic, I actually came up with the idea when I was doing cartoons as a teenager - I've even got the original comic in front of me as I write this. Back in the day when I was trying to get my head around Corel Draw! My old man would disagree, but I prefer Adobe.

I re-wrote it in the context of Melbourne Fuzz's characters - I've also used Axel the Croc who I haven't drawn for a while. This strip has been in my sketch book for months and I've been meaning to put it together.

When drawing the Eureka Tower, I pulled a photo down from Google Images and used it as a reference. I then remembered that I live next to the Eureka Tower and I could have just popped out onto my balcony. That's Gen Y for you. Always wanting everything NOW!

Ketchup

Hello! Here is the first strip for May - tackling the issues of Nuck's fantastic cooking and Baz's propensity towards drowning things in tomato sauce.

I am always hesitant to put sauce on other people's cooking - they might take it personally. That's not saying that my room mates should stop putting sauce on MY cooking. In fact, I seriously encourage it.

Speaking of condiments, a few months ago, my dear room mate and regular Melbourne Fuzz reader (who we will call 'Kiarash'), made a pizza base with Nando's Extra Hot Peri Peri on it. I think he also threw in a few chilli flakes as well. I haven't had any more problems with my sinuses since.

I've changed the way I've done the comic slightly - the outlines are a lot thicker and I'm experimenting with greater line variation. Comments are always welcome. Enjoy :)
